HYTALE IS SAVED! 🎉

After being declared cancelled earlier this year, Hytale has officially been saved. Simon Collins-Laflamme and Philippe Touchette — the original founders of Hypixel — have fully acquired Hytale from Riot Games and are personally funding development for the next 10 years.

Over 30 former Hytale developers have already been rehired, with more returning in the coming weeks. The team is returning to the original 2018 trailer engine, which is playable now and designed with modding in mind.

🔧 New Direction (Summary)

• Early Access: Date to be announced in the coming days
• Platforms: Windows first; Linux/Mac attempted later; other platforms much later
• Engine: Returning to the Legacy Engine (from the trailer)
• Launch Content: Exploration Mode, Creative Mode, and Modding
• Later: Minigames and Adventure Mode (with a dedicated team)
• Ownership: 100% owned by the founders, no investors or publishers
• Funding: 10-year personal funding commitment

📅 Development Timeline

Hytale was originally revealed on December 13, 2018 with the iconic trailer that ignited the community’s hype.

On June 23, 2025, Hypixel Studios announced Hytale’s development was officially ending, concluding 6 years, 6 months, and 10 days of confirmed development under Riot.

Between June 23, 2025 and November 17, 2025, Hytale entered a period of uncertainty. Publicly, the project was considered done, but behind the scenes there were talks, hopes, and rumors that it might somehow be brought back.

On November 17, 2025 — today — Hytale was officially revived by its original founders, marking the start of a brand-new, fully independent development chapter.
